The Company I work for has been firing employees from the location I manage for things they can't legally be fired for. 2 staff members are being let go this week due to age even though they are some of our best and oldest performers. The official reason is budget cuts, but I attended the meeting and fought against them, but they weren't interested in what i had to say.
This company has also merged alot of positions and doubled work without any kind of compensation, my job used to be 2 separate positions 1 for sales and 1 for operations, but now I'm doing both and extras. The CEO has also talked about doing a mass firing because he doesn't like the staff that are currently employed. Last time he came down alot of staff avoided him like the plague because the time prior a staff member was fired for insubordination after offering constructive criticism on a policy that just rolled out. The CEO came to complain to me that my staff weren't friendly enough because of this.
The location itself runs well and is actually bouncing back and forth between top and second for performance and profit. What they're doing seems wrong and personal.
I'm trying to leave but the job market here has taken a heavy hit since COVID and this companies shady doings with its customers is impacting my ability to get hired (literally attended a phone interview where I got blasted for issues with the corporation and its policies). I know at the end of things I'll be fine but I'm concerned for alot of my less experienced coworkers.
