About to rage quit my job because they were pressuring me to still come to work the same day my dog was being put down

I can’t believe I’ve been busting my ass and working extra shifts, including graveyard shifts, just for them to throw it in my face like this. I only agreed to do graveyard shifts to help out my assistant manager because we don’t have an actual manager right now and she would’ve had almost no days off and would’ve had to pull some doubles unless I helped her because no one else was willing to work that shift to help her except for me, due to all of us being young women and having scary experiences with creepy men since we only have one person in the building working at night. Now a few days ago, my mom calls me and tells me our 19 year old dog with health issues has gotten significantly worse in the last couple days and they’re gonna have to put him down very soon because…

Now a few days ago, my mom calls me and tells me our 19 year old dog with health issues has gotten significantly worse in the last couple days and they’re gonna have to put him down very soon because of how much pain he is in. I immediately tell my assistant manager about the situation and what day i’ll need off so I can make the three hour drive to my parents house so I can say goodbye to our dog and be there when he’s put down.

I really was not expecting her to try to pressure me into working that shift anyway directly after seeing my dog be put down, and when I didn’t text her back for a few hours she implied that if I couldn’t find someone to cover then i’d have to work it either way.

Now today was the day my dog was put down and she was seriously STILL trying to text me about finding cover when she knew my dog would CURRENTLY be getting put down.

Seriously considering not even giving a two week notice and just quitting on the spot right now.
