sick note not required in handbook for pto, but still hounded for it?

I needed to call out of work today, in our handbook I signed in onboarding it states “In the event employees are absent a full day due to vacation and/or other personal reasons, each specific day of absence should be noted in the area designated for recording the daily start and finish time by inserting one of the following, as applicable: Military Leave – Requires Documentation Jury duty – Requires documentation Personal Time Off (paid) – Applies to vacation, sick days, or any other time off related to personal reasons; does not require documentation” Do I hold my ground on getting paid? Any laws in Texas regarding this sort of thing? Thanks for all advice 🙂
