How risky is it to lie on your resume about your current role?

The most significant lie I want to pull is adding “Senior” in front of my current title. I've had all the responsibilities and more of a senior-level role for several years, so I have no reservations about being able to talk through experience and skills. It's just a technicality at this point. I'm aware that many places will run a check on your employment history before hiring you, but how likely is it to actually get caught and lose an offer because of something like this?
