Worked at a collectable toy store in the south, with six locations across the region. Now that more people are leaving I feel I can share my story. In my time there I was verbally and financially abused.
Owners are ebay flippers and scalpers turned buisness owners. They evaded taxes and now are desperate for sales during an IRS investigation. In these desperate attempts to make money, we found several employees have missing wages, hidden/ incorrect timecards. Whistleblowers were fired without notice, slandered and accused of stealing without evidence – hindering talented employees from finding new opportunities. When sales are low they move stores and dig a deeper hole.
They are routinely selling items and taking money of collectors, knowing they cannot get the item in. They sold an item to a customer, through a company they owed thousands to, that told them they will not give them the product. The customer is hundred of dollars deep into this and they will say 'preoorders are non refundable' I have seen them move these concerned customers' emails into trash folder.
Recently,staff learned of a deep rooted pest infestation across multiple locations. Cockroaches. Rats. Mice. Owners denied issues, gaslit employees and refuse to pay for treatment. Completely passed the buck and mocked an employee who quit over it.
They have made people miserable before vacation days on purpose, so the employee leaves before they have to pay out PTO. Last minute schedule changes, changing toxic expectations, and will devalue you. They have stolen sick days under the feet of sick employees with covid, by changing 'policy' amidst their illness.
I'm posting to wanting to warn collectors in the area, do not shop, and do not apply. You will be scammed, your preorders will never arrive, they will delete your concerned messages, they will 'contact warehouse' and never get back to you. You will loose thousands on your holiday statue orders. Shop through distributor, skip the scam and middleman and the chances of getting roaches brought in to your home for the holidays.
