I’m a dishwasher for a deli and we usually have 3 people closing at night, one person washes dishes and cleans the kitchen(me) one takes care of customers and one cleans the front area and brings me dishes. Occasionally we’ll have 4 or 5 people closing which logically should mean we get done quicker but it’s never the case. Even when we’re not busy we either finish at normal time or we get out late because everyone else is standing around talking. Being the one that has to wash all the pots pans spoons and equipment means that from the time we start cleaning to the time I finish I’m constantly working. While everyone else is standing around chatting.
The worst part is that everyone else often leaves while I’m still backed up with shit to was because they were late getting it to me and I often stay way later than everyone else despite clocking in 4 hours before them. Everyone else leaves at 8 while I leave around 8:40 and have to walk home. A few weeks ago our salad bar stopped getting cold so we had to throw out everything and I got stuck with 40 extra dishes and everyone left immediately after bringing the salad stuff. I didn’t get out until 9:15 and got home at 10(as a young weak girl who can’t carry a knife it’s very scary walking home at night).
They arnt supposed to leave me like this but they always do and management won’t do anything about it
