So this happened right before covid and thought i should post it here. I was working weekends and trying to gain more hours at $8 an hour cuz at the time i did not know my worth.
I worked at a pizza place as a cashier in charge of the front desk. So the register, cleaning the floor, cleaning the bathroom, topping up the spices, topping up plates and silverware.
I had no mat behind the register and usually after standing for a while my feet would start to hurt because i couldnt afford cushioning for my feet so i would sit down when there were no customers in the store and none showing up. He got mad at me for sitting down.
I have adhd and would need a break 2 hours before the end of the day to get my head back in the game. I worked 6 hours friday Saturday and sunday so id take a 30 minute break to hype myself up for the last hour so i could make it the last 2 hours. He yelled at me and told me i dont work enough to get a 30 minute break.
He gave me a used work shirt and then got mad at me when the fabric started to unravel and form holes. When the owner of the shop showed up she brought it to his attention that it was a health code violation. He refused to replace the shirt but bought some new shirts for some new recruits.
He cut my hours till i couldnt survive on my income after knowing i had just moved out then got angry when i had to take an entire week off (so the 3 days i worked that week) because i had to go back to my mother’s house.
That was my first job i had in my entire life. What a way to set the bar!
