Growing trend of quiet firing

After the large layoff rounds earlier in 2023, I am seeing alot of peers in the Industry victimized by “Quiet Firing” (including myself). Quiet firing overview from my point of view – – Manager Suddenly starting to complain about your output/performance – Previous performance review doesn’t matter, they claim you never performed well – They talk about change in expectations (very vaguely so you can’t comprehend) – You don’t meet the role duties and have 1 week to 1 month to prove your worth (they don’t fire you, just make things toxic enough so you leave) I have seen very similar pattern across multiple instance in the industry, let’s talk about it – why is it suddenly getting popular? P.S. I am lucky enough to get out of that hell within a month as industry valued my skill and experience but I am always vigilant about this behaviour now.
