What is the point of 2nd round interviews?

I never know what to expect from 2nd round job interviews. I felt disoriented after today's second interview. I had been preparing for days for them to ask me subject matter questions, like “Solve this equation” or “What was the plaintiff's argument in x case?” Instead they were asking me very subjective questions where I didn't know if there was a right or wrong answer, like, “How did you feel about the doing writing prompt assignment?” (where the assignment was read this article and provide 1-page summary.) “What was the most difficult part of that?” I said something like “I felt like the assignment was testing my abiltiies in 5 key areas. 1. my writing ability. 2. Instead they were asking me very subjective questions where I didn't know if there was a right or wrong answer, like, “How did you feel about the doing writing prompt assignment?” (where the assignment was read this article and provide 1-page summary.) “What was the most difficult part of that?”

I said something like “I felt like the assignment was testing my abiltiies in 5 key areas. 1. my writing ability. 2. How fast can I meet a deadline. 3…”

“How will you decide what your priorities are going to be your first week on the job?”

Answer: I'm gonna get with my supervisor and discuss what they think the major priorities are and where our energy should be first and then go from there.”

“how will you develop a system tracker?”

Answer: “Your website says you already have a system tracker in place so if that thing is working, I don't see the need for me to reinvent the wheel, but if it isn't working, I'm going to evaluate where the deficiencies are and come with a new system that is similar to the one I use at my company that contains these columns…”

“How will you handle situations where our client disagrees with your position?”

Answer: “I think it's important to make them feel like they're being heard, even if there is a conflict. Here's what that looks like.”

I don't know if I bombed that interview or what. There is no way to prepare for these types of questions.
