URGENT QUESTION. What should I do after performance plan?

Basically, due to an issue at work, some tardiness, supposed lack of communication… I have been placed on one of those performance plans, first warning before a termination I suppose. (The Tardiness is the only accusation that I take 100% responsibility for. However it should be noted that my supervisor also comes in late frequently) I don’t want to work here anymore and haven’t for a while. But I Haven’t actively started looking for employment yet. Also this is my very first job and I don’t have a great relationship with my manager or their manager (clearly). I am close with my other coworkers though. Also, the direct supervisor has always been callous with me, and I am partially in this situation due to their lack of due diligence. So a lot of the lack of communication that I am being accused of is because I do not feel safe…

I have been at this job for about 3 years now.

Questions:

1) Would applying for jobs while on the 2 month probation period impact me in anyway during the interview process? Or for recommendations?

2) Would flat out sending in resignation letter now (before the performance plan is signed next week) and then applying for employment afterwards help?

3) If I cannot get reference letters from my direct supervisors for the next job… what can I do?

4) Should I schedule a meeting with HR to see if I can appeal the performance plan? I want to add context that the supervisor obviously would not provide

Please help it’s urgent!!
