Out on short term medical disability but applied for a new job anyway because eff ’em

I broke my ankle in a non-work related incident and needed to have emergency surgery. Even though I work from home my doctor still put me out on disability for one month; I start working again on Nov 29th. Currently I work for a private telecommunications company and really do enjoy my company & management. The plan while recuperating is to get my Salesforce certification. I found a job at the same local state university my wife works at with a starting pay nearly double my current salary (literally starts in the six-figure area). While I may not get the job there is 0 regret in applying. Companies overall have shown they do not give a damn about the little guy. My field is notorious for layoffs and shipping jobs overseas so having being a psuedo-state employee is pretty enticing. No matter how good a company is to you, always…
