Could use some career advice.

Hey there, I could really use some guidance right now. In July, my company went through the whole layoff saga, and by some stroke of luck, my team came out unscathed. But let me tell you, it's been a struggle. Morale is rock bottom, our workloads are off the charts, and there's no extra cash in sight. Word on the street is there won't be any pay raises or bonuses this year, despite the company raking in profits. Layoffs may go until Q2 or Q3 of next year. A few of my fantastic teammates jumped ship because of the dismal pay situation (can't blame them; the pay is lousy, and I'm proud of them for knowing their worth). Hey there,

I could really use some guidance right now.

Now, we're losing about five people a month to job hunting. On top of that, our health insurance costs just went bonkers—I'm staring down an extra $3,000 and a raised deductible of $20,000. Believe it or not, working in healthcare, the health insurance incentives are crap, and I know many people outside of healthcare are getting better benefits than I do.

In my seven years in the healthcare/insurance game, I've worn multiple hats—five roles to be exact. My wife and I are eager to buy a home and start a family, but with my $80k salary, it feels like a distant dream. I'm aiming for $130k-$150k in the next few years and hustling to level up my skills.

I've got a bachelor's, a master's, and experience in program management, risk mitigation, and more. But honestly, I'm itching to break out of healthcare and into an industry where the pay is better. I'm tossing out one or two job applications a day, eyeing roles that pique my interest and let me flex the skills I've honed in healthcare.

So, let's get real: How did you folks pivot careers and land those higher-paying gigs? Any tricks up your sleeves for making your skills fit into a new industry? And for real, how many jobs did you apply to every day to snag those interviews?

Keen to hear your stories and soak up any tips you've got!
