I’ve been working part time at a store for 4 months (I’m a cashier). To say the least, the customers that come here are the most unhinged I’ve seen in any place I’ve worked. The management is terrible and unprofessional. They are openly racist towards people of a certain race, they keep switching around our hours knowing it’s a huge inconvenience, they never tell us if there’s an issue they want to address/gossip to other coworkers, etc. I have asked for more hours but they keep giving them to other people (despite the others not wanting /not being able to work those hours).
Not to mention (TW) SA happening on shift to another female coworker (management did nothing). The male workers here are terribly creepy.
As for me, they refused to pay me my proper salary while assigning me the role of assistant manager. One of the managers wrongfully accused me of arguing with a customer when that has NEVER occurred. That day, I tried to quit but the other manager stopped me. I addressed the issues I had with them directly and their behavior didn’t improve.
Last week, I was accused of losing $50 when I know for a fact I did not. They tried gaslighting me into believing so when it was actually an oversight on their part. They refused to let me explain myself and never apologized.
I have mental breakdowns thinking about coming to work everyday. My boss just called my coworker and told her I couldn’t leave till my shift is over.
Guess who’s leaving regardless in an hour or so. Ha.
Hopefully I’ll find a job with management that actually respects their workers and are decent human beings.
