I worked for a company that usually pops up more places for Halloween. They had this offer of an extra $3/hour for every shift you don't miss or call in for on certain days.
Well, I don't really like to be useless while working, especially when no one else is not working as well. It feels like I'm wasting everyone's time, including company money. But I worked my butt off and worked a LOT of extra hours by coming in early and leaving later than scheduled if I could.
One day a shift lead, NOT the store manager, said that I could go home early if I wanted to (on Halloween itself) bc it was super slow and they had more than enough people. Cue getting messages from the store manager at 8pm that same night saying I lost my bonus.
After explaining everything that happened and why I left early, it was also a secret clause to “showing up for every shift”. You had to be there for at least 3 hours. I was allowed to leave at 2hr40mins. I was short only 20 minutes from a clause that I didn't know existed.
After being completely pissed and angry that this dumbass shift lead who did absolutely nothing but get in people's faces and tell them the rules and regulations that we already know screwed me out of bonus 2 days before my last shift.
However was told that after explaining, and after talking to district about how shift lead has no authority to allow me to do that, it was on the table.of me getting said bonus. So I waited, bc pay is every 2 weeks.
Yesterday, the 2 weeks post season and should be getting the season bonus pay (bc if you miss 1 time, you lose everything) and I checked my bank account. I didn't get the bonus.
THIS MOTHERF@#$#R WHO CALLED IN 4 DIFFERENT SHIFTS AND STILL GOT TO KEEP HIS BONUS SCREWED ME.OUT OF MINE FOR TWENTY GODDAMN MINUTES!!!
All those hours, all those times that I came in and covered shifts, all the sacrifices just to get to this point. And he still got to keep his. His base pay was more than the bonus amount for me. And that is sickening to learn.
Why do we have to work ourselves into the ground as associates when managers reap ALL the benefits despite you being the only one following the rules??!?!! I hate it. I hate how living is.
