A few weeks later, I discreetly requested a lateral transfer by speaking directly with another manager for the same job. Initially, everything seemed fine, and I informed my current manager. But then, for some reason, she decided not to proceed with the transfer. I later discovered that my current manager had persuaded her to cancel it.

Now, there's a new position available in another team. I know I need to leave the current group or the organization because I can't stand my current manager. The dilemma is whether I should quietly apply for jobs outside the company or go ahead and apply for the new internal position. It might take up to six weeks to get a response, which means enduring six more weeks of mental torture from my current manager because he get's notified when I apply for internal position.
