Antiwork

Two people, 1 does 25% of it. Just who does the other 75%

It's not the company I'm pissed off about in this matter, although I have my own grievances on other things. It's my co worker who unfortunately have to partner with for this shift . I'll call them “Their majesty” (T. M). I work in a multiuse venue that hosts sports (the televised kind) and concerts very regularly. One particular team plays, I'm scheduled with T. M. pretty much: – clean the playing ground – wipe the team benches – media setup tables. – wipe perimeter seating – wipe and mop the retractable seating rows extended out – mop up the bases of the perimeter seats for shoe prints and dirt. – Check and Clean practice facility Typical day. I start off with the cleaning clothes, towels needed for the playing area cleaning. Then I have to grab the equipment, signs, block… Etc. After I grab all of that. T. M…

pretty much:
– clean the playing ground
– wipe the team benches
– media setup tables.
– wipe perimeter seating
– wipe and mop the retractable seating rows extended out

– Check and Clean practice facility

Typical day. I start off with the cleaning clothes, towels needed for the playing area cleaning. Then I have to grab the equipment, signs, block… Etc. After I grab all of that. T. M makes their appearance. Usually because of time constraints with team practice happening later, theirs only so much time. It has to be swept, and blocked for practice and game later in the day. Depending on when t.m makes an apparent. I begin on it until they take over. Then I begin the other priority stuff like media area cleaning. Most of the time is getting the perimeter seating is done.. Company thinks it bright to chalk numbers on the seating bottoms. Sure problem is they don't put them in order when they put them back out again. So I wipe off all the numbers so they can chalk up the seats again with the correct numbers. Making my way around all the rows and sections around the playing area. If it's a good day. I get done the priority stuff and the perimeter seating just before the practice. T.M is usually done the playing area blocking so they are usually taking a breather comprised of talking with whoever and or staring at the phone until team kick out for league mandated practice barring non team staff in the playing area. So I'm off doing whatever needs to be done on the other tasks everyone else in the venue has until playing area is back opened up. Some groups buy the time to use the playing area for recreational use. I'm usually back working and resuming the task list. Until the community time is done, T. M continues with the disappearing act.. They decide to appear right on queue when the once the time ends. T.M will atleast sweep then disappear again.. Perhaps if so lucky I'd see another appearance of maybe few mins then never again that shift.. You'd think they would be handling the practice facility during the downtime or during the community time elsewhere in the venue… . That's not happening. I know because T. M was scheduled off one shift and a newer hire and the supervisor (That isn't a fan of their majesty either) was with us and took a trip to the practice facility and it looked like it wasn't maintained as much as it should be let's say.

It's not some inexperienced worker, this person been there since long before I've been there. Pretty much over a decade. F#$$ entitlement! I also had complaint from T. M one time because I had another job to go to and at the last minute manager complained about the chalk not being completely gone from seating. next shift I had to hear about it from T. M who wasn't happy at all about it. Just recently I mentioned it to that same supervisor from earlier about it… Different shift talking about schedule upcoming mentioned that I'm “so looking forward 🤣”, to the shifts again. Mentioned of course about that time. The response I got from supervisor was “Awww…Poor T. M had to work last hour “

Don't you just love unionized workplaces and supervisors that also hate some aspects of unions
