Getting up the courage to quit

Throwaway account. I work remotely for a company in the medical industry. I won't get into it too much since this particular subsection of the industry is very small, but our entire leadership in the department is just trash, and it is a reflection of the company as a whole. They fumbled supporting a supervisor in working on a performance improvement plan with an employee, and fired the supervisor when the employee complained. They promote without any transition of duties, and fail to backfill positions. We had someone go on planned maternity leave in October, and we JUST hired that replacement last week. We currently have people in supervision and leadership roles who have no clue what the role is or what is expected of them, because the person previously in that role already got promoted or otherwise changed roles, so they do not have time to train their replacement.…

I work remotely for a company in the medical industry. I won't get into it too much since this particular subsection of the industry is very small, but our entire leadership in the department is just trash, and it is a reflection of the company as a whole.

They fumbled supporting a supervisor in working on a performance improvement plan with an employee, and fired the supervisor when the employee complained.

They promote without any transition of duties, and fail to backfill positions. We had someone go on planned maternity leave in October, and we JUST hired that replacement last week. We currently have people in supervision and leadership roles who have no clue what the role is or what is expected of them, because the person previously in that role already got promoted or otherwise changed roles, so they do not have time to train their replacement.

For over two months, we have been a team with no effective supervisors or managers, and the one person we used to have that knew everything is no longer accessible (constant meetings, now also responsible for other teams, etc). For a while, I stepped into that role and helped everyone with daily tasks, questions, and basically ran the department, while our supervisors were being trained. Then the person we trusted the most, the inaccessible leader, told a member of my team that the work I was doing to cover for their ineptitude wasn't asked for, wasn't appreciated, and basically that I was being a terrible employee by stepping into the role the way I did. I should mention that I was asked to apply for the supervisor positions by multiple people, including the person who told my colleague all this.

So, I'm quitting, but the pay is the best I've had in my life so far. Nothing mind-blowing, not even 100k, but it's still hard for me to imagine just giving that up.

I'm sorry for the chaotic post, but I just need that extra push to quit, please. My financial situation is fine so that's not a concern. I know this place is toxic and awful – I've even had panic attacks at work – but that money…
