Manager Asking Hourly Staff to Contribute Money for Holiday Gifts for GM and Owners…

I work at a popular 100 room boutique hotel, generating >$6M/year and experiencing ~20% YoY revenue growth, for $17/hour. I work a second job as well and I still struggle to pay bills and keep gas in my car. My manager asked me to contribute money to purchase holiday gifts for the hotel GM, who I haven't seen or spoken to in months, and the hotel owners, whom I have never met… The GM is a single homeowner who recently traveled overseas for vacation and bought himself an expensive new mountain bike. He seems like a decent guy, but I'm offended my manager would have the gall to ask me and my coworkers for $ to buy these comparatively well-off folks holiday gifts… I want to rile up my coworkers who also struggle to pay bills and work 2nd jobs and respond with a “Fuck NO!”… What do you think?
