Anyone here take the pay cut to drop down to 4 days? And if so, was it worth it?

I've been banging my head against 'the wall' for months now. I don't feel like I can continue giving 49 hours of my week to work. I miss my family, and I have zero time to spend with them. I earn a pretty average salary, but we finished making payments on a long term direct debit recently and it's net us a bit of spare cash. If I were to drop down from 5 to 4 days a week, we'd be in roughly the same position that we've been in for the last couple of years. Of course, I've considered that if I were to continue working 5 days a week, I'd have that extra expendable income and it'd be a lot easier to save for the future. I hate feeling trapped but I just don't know what to do. Anybody been in a similar position and gone for it?…
