I got sticker shock

I got sticker shock from my pharmacy today: a new medication that I must take is covered by my health insurance and will cost me $800 a month. Coupons don't exist. Our premiums are also doubling next year. I shopped around the marketplace, and the prices there aren't any better. I looked online to see how much the same meds that I am on are in my husband's home country (South Africa). Guess what? Prescription prices are regulated by the government, and all my meds are so much less, like 75% less. So, what do I do? I can't believe that I actually want to sell our house and move overseas, just to afford medication. Is this normal? Have other Americans moved to other countries just for this? I've never been more disappointed by health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies and the US government for letting prescription prices get out…

I've never been more disappointed by health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies and the US government for letting prescription prices get out of control. This country is going down the toilet, and I don't know if people will wake up in time to make changes. Just floored.

Rant over.
