New HR lady says this is a “great time of year” while I’m about to be jobless

Nothing of substance. Just a vent, I need to let off some steam. I’m by far the lowest paid employee at my current job. Contracted with no benefits whatsoever. Full time hours at part time pay. Understaffed, they refuse to hire anyone else despite record profits. Constantly overworked with not so much as a thank you, forced to do illegal unpaid overtime to meet stringent—and frankly ludicrous—deadlines, nepotism despite there being a supposed policy against it, etc. Yes I’m in the US. That’s what irked me the most. I was recently told by my manager that my position will be dissolved on the 1st of January. They apparently “can’t find another position I could fill” despite me being one of the many hat wearers. I find that really interesting, seeing as though my manager’s son-in-law was recently promoted to full time employment despite a good 75% of the work I do being fixing his fuckups.

I’m honestly glad to be leaving. Crossing my fingers that the company goes bankrupt soon.
