Hubstaff – half the work done, 3 times more exhausted

Just ranting I guess, as I'm just so mentally (and physically) exhausted. Left previous job because of the mobbing, micromanaging and 3 years without a raise despite consistently performing above any KPIs and increasing sales by over 60% with pretty much no marketing budget. Landed a job that seemed like a godsend, as they're hybrid, small company with flat-ish structure, nice team etc. Forcing people to do 43h / week as “full time”, but that's unfortunately common in Ireland due to no legal regulations. They also want to keep me when I will be moving abroad in a year, so I really NEED that job, especially with the really shite job market now. Been there for 6 weeks and they keep on going oh and ah about how I have massive work output, great ideas etc.etc. And yet…the management is obsessed with Hubstaff. Allegedly it's only to make sure people…

Allegedly it's only to make sure people work because “Years ago we had one employee who would just be on their phone all days”, but it's not really the case – if my performance drops below the “office average”, things start getting sour.

The problem is – firstly, the “performance average” is driven by helpdesk people who type A LOT throughout the day, while as Digital Marketer I need to do a lot of analysing, reading, scrolling through things etc. and Hubstaff thinks that if you don't type / click a lot, you're not doing shite. And secondly, I'm neurodivergent and when left to my own devices, I have the work output of 3 other people, but I work in bursts – I focus intensely for 2-3h and then go away for 10 minutes do laundry or something of this sort, and still finish well before deadlines etc. Was always getting stellar performance reviews in previous, task-based job. But in Hubstaff, even if you work like mad for 6h straight, a 10 minute break will immediately massacre your stats.

So I'm not able to focus on my work really as I constantly think about Hubstaff. I also find it really difficult to stay focused and productive non-stop for 8h a day, every day. Sometimes I just type random text I later delete just to get a mental break, and always click through apps like mad – just to meet the Hubstaff requirements, gods forbid I need a longer toilet break. My productivity is half of what I normally can do and I'm constantly mentally and physically exhausted, and started getting RSI again from having to click the damn mouse all the time.

More and more thinking about trying my luck in freelance as I'm so exhausted of years of being micromanaged, but scared I will make a bad decision and get into debt etc.
I don't know why does Ireland have such obsession with micromanaging.
