17 yr old New to the workforce.

So I started a new job at a restaurant. I’m a minor and in my state it’s illegal for me to work more than 4 hours without a break. I explained this to my manager she said it wasn’t true and I just left it at that . I don’t know who right. Also she did say that all of us would be getting cash tips distributed between us. I have been there for 4 days and haven’t touched any cash. Is this normal?
