I picked up a gig as a house cleaner for a property management company who handles Air BnBs. I was told if you don’t clean the property well enough, you have to go back and address it but you don’t get paid if you have to go back.
I didn’t pay much mind to this because I figured I’m a thorough worker so it won’t happen to me. But after my shift today, my manager said there were complaints from the new guests about the house I cleaned. A few complaints over very small issues but I know for a fact they weren’t legit issues because I left the place spotless. We use an app where we have to take pictures of our work to help protect us from these accusations, but I guess I didn’t take enough pics.
I don’t feel great about having to do back and redo it for free. I know I did my best and I am using my personal car to get to and from these properties. This particular one is a 30 minute drive. It’s not worth the time to go redo 3 things I already did! Thing is I don’t know if this is an official policy I signed off on and missed (extremely lengthy terms and conditions on the onboarding site when I started) or if it’s even legal. Feels like it’s not but I could be wrong.
Also, the pay is $18 an hour, can anyone in Utah tell me if that’s a fair wage for this type of job? This has been my first experience in housekeeping.
