I was just laid off so I will be getting a severance. I was told that I could apply to other positions within the company and priority would be placed on my application but that I would still need to be interviewed. I asked if I would still get my severance if I was offered a position and accepted it but was told I would not. Is this common? Why would I want to stay with the company if I can get the same salary someplace else + severance from the old company?
