A job I worked at for three weeks is getting audited and reaching out to me for my passport.

The manager took copies when I started work there, but now months later when I've quit and gone to a different company, they're reaching out to me asking for photos because they've lost them and are having an audit done. What do I do? Should I be nice and send it? How much trouble do they get in for not having it? ETA: I worked there for a few weeks then quit for another job. They were actually fairly nice and I felt a tiny bit bad for quitting without notice. But I do think it's weird to go back and provide them info. The CEO of the company reached out today via email, but yesterday and the day before it was texts from an unknown number/person I'd never met. ETA#2: am us citizen working in us, they used my passport as my identity verification or whatever.
