A little context: I've been at this job for about 5 months now. Complete change from my previous employer.. the pay wasn't great and job was meh, but they did so much for us. I left to find something more interesting.
New job: start working, hybrid role. I have to do all those HR video training where they talk about a bunch of crap and how happy people are working there, the usual. After a few weeks there (in office days), I notice that not a lot of people go to lunch. If they do, it's grab something and eat it while they work or eat something they brought and get back to work asap. Now, there aren't any specific rules, at least for my team, regarding lunch. Boss is flexible with the whole getting what you need to get done and be sure to attend any meetings but that's it.
I feel weird walking away for more than 30 minutes. Other than the lunch thing, there aren't really any events or parties or anything. They have a family event day planned for later in the year. But I believe it's on a Sunday. I don't want to complain but my expectations were low coming into a corporatey type job, but damn, they're below what I consider low. So far I've gotten 1 lunch with a premade sandwich and chips.
Part of me wants to quit this job, there are other reasons to also include the dystopian looking floor and my condescending/micromanaging boss.
Does anyone else have a similar situation?
For clarity, I went from working at a University to a Corporate job.
