I work in a tiny company of three (my “boss, my coworker and I).
Its a company whith a lot of turnover, workers staying only one year usually an “boss” decided some years ago to expand because we were willing to stay and she didn't have to worry every year for the next year staff.
Everything was fine until two years ago when said “boss” decided she can't stand my coworker and to start bitching regularly about my coworker or insult her.
Coworker failed to sleep at night, anxious about it and broke in tears in front of me a couple of times. In fact, one time she didn't answered phone calls and SMS, I started to fear she might have attempted to kill herself.
Until new year's eve, my coworker wasn't yet sure to stay or to leave and was awaiting to see if “boss” will grow up and acquire some maturity.
It didn't happen and coworker decided to resign. I convinced her to warn “boss” about her decision early and not to wait last minute, just so to ensure “boss” will not get anymore mad about her and won't be tempted to make moves to ruin her career after, by bullying her or spreading rumors to make her unemployable.
I thought I might risk to have my “boss” bitching more but that it might be worth it if said coworker was safe.
Holy s**t !
I just have 40 minutes of my boss bitching and yelling at me and insulting me and calling me dumb and getting paranoid and I just have a phone call of her forbiding me to communicate with coworker, my friend, anymore !
Just because I speak to coworker while “boss” said previously that I must keep on talking to her as before to not make her uncomfortable.
To make you laugh :
- she's complaining that she hates my coworker because cocorker hates her while in fact she started hating her 2 years ago and this is why coworker leave (who, by the way, just doesn't to think about her and is just counting the days remaining before the end of her contract)
- she started last week to be afraid we might record her for my coworker and potentual trial while we took care since last october to not speak to loudly in office when “boss” wasn't here and to not leave SMS talking about our attempts to manage “boss” because we didn't trust her and we fear she might have try to hid mics 'I know she already have gone through my jacket's pockets before)
- she's bitching my coorker “is the devil” trying to “destroy our company and our “friendship” (between “boss” and I)” while said coworker just want to save her mental health and is really my friend while I hardly handle “boss”
- she's trying to convince me coworker try to manipulate me to leave while we don't speak of work after work hours and coworker hesitated to leave because I said to her I dont want to be left alone with “boss” and while “bos” clearly try to influence me by telling me what to think and that, smart as I am, I just can't think otherwise
- she's regularly telling about it's not a question about her but about company while she didn't give a f**k about efforts made by coworker for company even outside of work hours but had a doubt about coworker's state of mind when coworker gave her a birthday present
- she's been complaining she didn't sleep last week while coworker decided to leave because she broke in tears regularly for months
- she said she wasn't sure I was willing to stay while I didn't even thought of leaving before (being far too coward to get unemployed) but I must admit that I start pondering the idea when I am being asked the same question at least once EVERY F*****G DAY and I am insulted
-she wondered in front of me 2 times if coworker was leaving because she couldn't stand “boss” anymore but, as I guessed then, it was just at a subconscious level and she said it not to know the truth but only for me to say “of course no”
I have many more to say about “boss” but I can't resolve to disturb you anymore so I'll just stick to the core of the crrent problem : I have until last day of June to stand this situation and to manage to protect coworker from “boss”
