I have said some insane s*** to various bosses over the years. Some of them I have said while in the process of quitting, but I'm looking for stuff you said to your boss and kept your job.
I was working in a rent to own company, and while I was in the middle of whatever task I was doing, my store manager came over and asked me to do something.
I looked him dead in the eye and told him “you're not the boss of me”
He responded with “oh, right, sorry” and then he walked away!
I couldn't believe that that had worked! He didn't ask me to do anything else all day. The next day, I was in the middle of doing something, and he came over and asked me to do something else for him. I tried it again. “Oh, right, sorr–hey, wait a minute… I am literally your boss!”
I then burst out laughing “I almost had you again! I was wondering how many times that was going to work!”
I guess one is the magic number.
