based on my previous post here, this was our managers response (in red) once again Im in yellow.
I know some of you pointed out that I wasnt the most professional in how I bought up the issue, the thing is I didnt really expect them to explode over it like they did, I just wanted to bring up that I had some difficulty and it didnt feel safe.
As others suggested, I can refuse unsage work, and I actually did try to. I told the girls out front that I was having too much difficulty getting the bags down and if the skip drivers had their own bags could they just take the food unbagged. the skip orders were fine but we had a take out order from a customer and the girl out front didnt want to send her with so many food boxes without a bag. So she opted to come back and help me take them down. Ultimately I wasnt able to refuse the task without making someone the same size as me also struggle, in the end I decided at least with the two of us working together it was less likely someone would get hurt and we managed to make it work but in it was just not a situation Id want to deal with again.
but their response is what drove me to turn it into a more serious matter.
Im not sure what my options are seeing as this is a locally owned business, I'll be calling local labor board and OHS to ask them what my options are, however I cant as today is a holiday.
Ive been kicked out of the discord after I sent that message. I did say I was leaving so I dont know if I can go after them for “firing” me since I never specified if it was on the spot or 2 weeks notice. I dont really care either way but obviously if I have the option to Im going to take it. Im pretty shaken right now and still not sure if I did the right thing. Ive been wanting to leave this job for a while now I just didnt expect it to happen so suddenly
