Hi everyone, this is my first post here and I’ve been wondering whether or not I should post this, but I decided I needed to get this off my chest and see what others think of my situation. For clarification, I live in Australia and this was last year this happened. I worked at boost juice for 4 months, but I was under employment for 7 months. I was a casual and started my work, did all my training, followed instructions, and let them know when I couldn’t come in for work. I wasn’t given proper training as they just did a talk and showed me some things, but not everything that was mentioned on my online training. The owner would come by sometimes and micromanage me, she would count how long I would use the bathroom for, message us in group chats for minor things she didn’t like, and would give my shifts to other people sometimes. She also had a niece working there and I traded my shift with her and her auntie gave my shift to someone else. There were also other problems such as vegan only blenders being used to make dairy juices, owner would tell me to measure the ice then tell me not to measure the ice next time she came around, correct amount of ingredients weren’t used, etc. I also felt like I was a good cashier but apparently I wasn’t upselling enough, pretty much had to ask every single person if they’d like this or that as an extra in their juice. I messaged HR about some issues I was having there and juices being made incorrectly but I never got a response, also tried contacting the CEO but didn’t get a response either. I got laid off work after not having any shifts for over 2 months and I didn’t know it was because I was going to be laid off this whole time. Sorry for the rant, but I just needed to let this all out due to frustration.
TL;DR: Worked in a micromanaged setting, correct procedures weren’t followed, nepotism, negligent HR, and got laid off after not being given any shifts after 2 months without any word beforehand.
