Hi! I work at a Tropical Smoothie in Michigan, and recently my manager told me, and my crew that during our unpaid, 30 minute break, where we are relieved of all tasks, we are not allowed to leave the cafè. I’m not sure if it changes anything, but myself and many of the team are minors.
It’s totally useless, considering it’s literally a smoothie cafe but is this legal (in mi atleast) for them to enforce? It seems pretty unfair considering we aren’t being paid, or responsible for any work when clocked out for a break at all.
If it isn’t, do you guys have any idea of who should I tell, or what should I reference if I were to bring it upto them?
