I work for a non profit–we're a sexual assault/domestic violence shelter. I work the 3rd shift 12a-8a. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. It's annual review time.
Last week I asked when my review could be done, because my husband needed the car to get to work and if I knew what day the review was, I could get him a different ride. (His car broke down.) My boss said she would have a sign up sheet. Then two days later she said she was going to do them this week. So I assumed she would do mine yesterday or today (monday or tuesday, when I'm scheduled already and she comes in as I leave) but she didn't.
This is my weekend. Last week was my wedding anniversary and I worked through it, so we planned a little getaway from wednesday night to friday this week. On my off days, like everyone plans to do things on their weekends.
Now, she suddenly texts me today and asks me what time I'll be back on friday, as if that's any of her business!! She's asking me this because she scheduled her vacation for next week, so she can't do my review unless either I come in on my day off or she does it after her vacation, which she doesn't seem to want to do. Which seems unfair to me–she doesn't have to come in on her days off, but I should have to come in on mine??
This SERIOUSLY feels like “an emergency on your part does not constitute one on mine” situation. This happens all the time, they just expect me to jump on board and do whatever they need on my days off because they refuse to just do it at shift change when I'm already there.
Idk if I'm looking for advice or just venting, or maybe a sanity check that it should be okay for me to put my foot down on this, but, man, I'm so beyond frustrated.
