It seems as though every industry and job is open 24/7 to satisfy every customer’s instant gratification, at the expense of the well being of their employees.
I will admit I complain about having no work life balance, being expected to answer the phone and be on call basically always, work on weekends and right up to holidays. This week has me especially pissed because why I need to show up to work for insurance sales on a Friday after the 4th of July baffles me. Is that really a day we can’t afford to take close?
In the midst of my moodiness, I realize that I am part of the problem. Making my last minute grocery list to go pick up in the morning, thinking of errands to run tonight etc. Businesses are staying open on holidays and making employees work because people like me give them business on holidays. Which makes me sick
So do your shopping, your errands, all the things in regular business hours. Respect that others want to have time off too.
This is the end of my soapbox
