I started a new job on July 1st, was given the offer last week. HR told me to give them a few days I needed off before I start so they could put it in my employee calendar and guarantee my those days off before my vacation time kicks in. I picked mostly friday’s as we have mandatory overtime certain saturdays, which you don’t have to work if you’re not there that Friday. It’s a really good paying job with benefits, 401k etc. It’s only my third day and my supervisor comes up to me today to clarify I will be off this Friday, then tells me “we need to talk about the days you told HR you needed off” emphasis on told, as if it was my idea.. It’s a big company and I know i’m not the only person that was given this whole speech from HR. Im kinda fucking flabbergasted because 1, I quit my prior job for various reasons one of which being I missed too many life events due to not being able to get time off. 2, These days were approved before I was formally hired so how the fuck can my supervisor just now find out/ want to “talk about them”. Her tone alone had me very stressed out. It wasn’t even my idea to have these days off HR told me to reserve them so I don’t get in any sort of trouble for needing x days off. What the fuck. I was anti work before this and here I thought I had a good gig.
