Not being fired but told if I were to apply to a new job and need a reference from my manager they couldnt (in good conscious) write me a good reference.

I show up on time everyday (even early) I stay late and work off the clock occasionally when necessary. I have asked for more responsibilities as a way to prove myself and my success.

Unfortunately though, I have come to the point where I just want to move on and move on quickly. I have 1 year away from completing my masters program in the same field I already currently work.

How do I go about applying for new positions knowing full well my most applicable job experience (my current job) I may not be able to use as a reference.

I guess I'm just feeling down and looking for advice as to how to move on knowing I would either have to not list them as a reference (which seems like a red flag) or risk giving my managers name with a high chance it won't be a stellar review.
