Gurrr!!! I am so pissed off!!! So at my job we are in kind of a transitional phase. My old boss is ramping down to retire and we have a new SMIT (Store Manager In Training) The old manager was talking to the SMIT about me coming in on my days off this week. Mind you, it's a holiday week so we're most likely going to be less busy. (Automotive Parts Business)
I've been working at my current store for 3 years. I am an assistant manager. The SMIT told me to take my days off and Friday because I get paid for the holiday (my normal days off arrive Wednesday and Thursday and if the holiday falls on your normal day off you get an extra day but you need to use it within 30 days)
The old guard (manager) is insistent that I MUST BE AT WORK WEDNESDAY, or everything will be bad. When I first started working there, it was HIM and I with 3 drivers. During the height of COVID. One guy was dealing with a death in the family, the other out with COVID. I worked 18 days STRAIGHT. When the old manager went on vacation, I worked 12 days straight for the first 2 years. Is it wrong for me to value my sanity and work/life balance or am I a lazy f**k and need to give up my personal time???
