For a little backstory, my company is downsizing by the way of shortening hours, closing locations and eliminating services offered. So in an effort to avoid the total fallout, I saw an opportunity to apply for a promotion at another company.

Despite having a successful initial screening and first round phone interview; today I went on the in-person interview… it was a traumatic experience.

I felt instantly judged by the general manager.

I was told there were several internal candidates and if I was hired that would be a contentious situation.

I was told they opened up the position to external candidates to better compare us to their internal candidates.

I was asked tricky questions about
if I would be ok showing preferential treatment.

The manager who interviewed me , insinuated I don’t have the right experience for their “affluent clientele”.

When I sighted a specific stat based on my success, I was laughed at.

At the end of the day corporate is going to corporate no matter the industry!
