A rant into the void

I need to vent but I don’t want to overwhelm my friend so I’m going to take a big steaming shit with this post instead of sending it to him as a text. Dude I am so tired of showing up to work for shit pay and I am homeless and cannot get a better job. Can no longer afford therapy. Boomers’ only solution is to get a second full time job when what we need is actual revolutionary action and the dignity to afford living on one goddamn job no matter how much value it creates or skills it requires. I endure constant mocking of my English degree by illiterate shitheads, a degree which I got because a) it’s my greatest skill and passion, b) in 2013, we were told to get our ticket punched, get a degree any degree, and I got good grades, won scholarships, and had…

I endure constant mocking of my English degree by illiterate shitheads, a degree which I got because a) it’s my greatest skill and passion, b) in 2013, we were told to get our ticket punched, get a degree any degree, and I got good grades, won scholarships, and had an internship, and c) college transitioned from where people get a (liberal arts) education to being about jobs, of which I thought I could at least do better than cleaning offices like I currently am. “English? What you gonna do with that?”I am losing my fucking mind man. I would just sell my car and start hitchhiking but my job gives me insurance which gives me relatively affordable medication, running out of which I will be in need of medical attention. Capitalism has me by the balls. I see people who have been here cleaning floors for 20 plus years and I wholeheartedly intend to be dead before it comes to that.
Hundreds of resumes and applications for almost a year and it isn’t even a drop in the bucket. What the fuck is the point?

I think the most logical solution is wean off meds, take up smoking again, move to a shack in a small town in New Mexico or Appalachia, write books, and work part time at a bar or something.

Something’s gotta give. I make 18/hr after shift differential as a janitor. In 2018, upon graduating college, I made 12/hr as a library supervisor which required a degree. Inflation accounted for and that is the same wage my friends.
