There were rumors for maybe six months that some kind of restructuring was in the works but management was always vague about what was going to happen or what that would look like. Then it was announced to us our company was being “merged” with another company. I say merged in quotation because the reality is, we were bought out and the company that fucking cannibalized us proceeded to liquidate our division over the next six months.
The company being absorbed was completely erased. Positions were eliminated. Most of the responsibilities were distributed to employees of the company taking over.
So most of us quit and found other jobs, but the economy/jobs market in this state isn't great compared to the big cities. The new job I got is not quite comparable to what I had before. Pays a bit less, not near as much responsibility. I am very unmotivated because I don't have as much to do. It's also in a completely different industry so having to re-learn everything from scratch. This merger kicked my ass.
And so I am dealing with the disappointment and frustration of everything that happened. I feel like my career has been sabotaged and I will never get back to where I was in terms of pay and responsibility.I have lost my mojo.
I just focus on painting in my spare time to take my mind off it.
