Bereavement Leave + PTO approved, but need to put in Notice for New Job

EDIT – I've decided to work all day Wednesday in office (it's my remote day), clean up my cube (or what's left of it; never really brought any personal effects to the office), and wipe my laptop clean. Ensure all employer property is given back. And head straight to the airport (flight is later that night). I'll put in my notice via email the following Wednesday, 7/24, early in the morning. Thanks, all! I was approved for bereavement leave and one day of PTO next week thru the following Tuesday (will be gone 7/18-7/23). My new job starts on 7/25. If I were to put in my notice this week, I worry I will just be let go (I live and work in an at will state). I can't go without a paycheck. I was approved for bereavement leave and one day of PTO next week thru the following Tuesday (will be gone 7/18-7/23). My new job starts on 7/25. If I were to put in my notice this week, I worry I will just be let go (I live and work in an at will state). I can't go without a paycheck. So, that begs the question – when should I put in my notice? Tomorrow, as my last day will be 7/24, and this would be a two week notice? OR, come back from bereavement leave and give a one day notice to ensure I get paid for my time being gone? Any input would be great!

Please note, I don't see myself asking for any references from this job in the future as I only worked here 7 months. I also have almost a decade of experience in my field of work and have had long-term positions prior to this. I hate my job duties, the industry, the company and its work culture, and some of the people I work with. I knew the job wasn't for me since after month 2 of being here. I've never felt like this about a job before.

So again, I'm not worried about burning bridges. Only worried about securing my payment
