I was working in a social club last year, that was run by the city. A very good workplace to work. And I made an agreement with my boss to quit 15th May because there was another job I was going to work during the summer. In June, my boss's boss calls me, and informs that due to a mistake, I got overpaid by 435$.
I ended up signing a legal contract with them that I owed them 435$, and they were going to bill me in the bank. It took 3 months for the bill to arrive, and when it finally arrived, it said I owed them 755$ without any explanation.
I kept calling and sending emails, again and again, asking them to send me a bill for the 435$ that we agreed on. Then they sent me a letter home, threatening me legal action if I wouldn't pay.
In November, I finally did what I should had done in the beginning of this clausterfuck, I called my union. They connected me to a lawyer, and the lawyer asked me to send them all the documents, paychecks, emails, the contract I signed, and the letter where they threatened me a legal action, more documents, the better.
Then the lawyer called me again, and asked for a “shooting licence” against the city, and I agreed.
I never heard anything more, neither from the city or the union, and I ended up paying 0.
Anyone who tries to convinces you that unions are bad are full of shit, and they are not your friends.
