I’m a 40M highly experienced software engineer. My manager has been throwing me under the bus, here’s how. I got several tasks in my queue, drops another task on me late Friday and expects me to work on weekends and do whatever it takes to clear the commitments that I made for the week. Even though they have sprints, they don’t really choose the tasks that will be worked on for the week the tasks get added as we go along. Monday rolls around and he is like you should’ve had that done already, on a call with business folks. So I schedule a call with him to go over this, since it’s a theme; and try and explain to him by showing him the board, what my current workload is and why I could not finish that on Friday. His response to that was, and I quote. “I’m tired of going back-and-forth with you. You should just get the fuck out of here.” so I said wow, immediately shut the lid to my laptop and have not opened it since. Just following orders boss 🫡 your move
Update: Was just let go today. Their reasoning: “You didnt meet performance expectations”! No mention about this incident or an apology. Not surprising since there's really no coming back from something like this.
