I’m 33 and already just so incredibly burned out working for corporations. I hate the petty culture, I hate the arbitrary hierarchy, I hate the 9 to 5 schedule (8 to 6 these days though), I hate having to do things poorly on purpose because we have to run lean, I hate having to commute to sit on zoom calls exclusively, I hate early morning and late evening meetings, I hate the lack of meritocracy and any meaningful connection between performance and pay.
I’m reaching this point after leaving an awful company and finding one that was and is probably the best I can hope for and I still hate it. I figure if I’m well compensated and not too actively abused and still miserable that the lifestyle just isn’t for me.
Has anyone had success turning a hobby into something lucrative or just found a way to escape the corporate lifestyle in general? If so, can you share your story and inspire others (like me lol) to find their own way?
