So my boss tells me we are now charging for estimates, although our website and social media advertises them as free, and he won't change it.
A new client calls needing a very large and expensive job done. I let him know the fee, he is rightfully upset and tells me its ridiculous, I agree with him but he is still angry. I apologize profusely and tell him I am just relaying information from my boss and I have no idea why he refuses to update our website and social media.
I tell my boss something along the lines of “Hey this client says nevermind because of the fee”. Boss is pissed at me for “losing such a good job” even though I was DIRECTLY following his orders that I already don't agree with.
Boss calls client back to tell him he doesn't know why I told him that for such a *special* job, and now he is doing the estimate for free.
So basically I have to enforce this new rule that completely contradicts our advertisements, unless certain clients don't agree with it then I can let it slide??
