Take a pay cut or resign?

In the last few months, my job as a distribution driver has caused me intense pain in my knees. I was trying to get worker’s comp and accommodations for the job, but my doctor’s recommendations are incompatible with the essential functions of the job. The company has offered me two options: I either take a retail position within the company for almost $3/hour less than I make now, or I resign. I cannot afford this pay cut. Not only is it incredibly demeaning given the experience I have in the industry and my time at the company, it is not enough to cover my bills.
