Recently my mgr became my mgr bc of restructuring. I accepted it , bc I have no choice. I adapted. I had to train on her on a few things but it was masked as showing what tasks I complete in a day. Clocked it. I was due for a promotion once we brought on a new person on my team of 1.. the new girl comes. Yes I got I the promotion, but it was remixed. That’s another topic. So, My mgr tries to train her , some things were correct , but many were not. How can you train s1 on my division if you’ve only watched me for a week and I gave a mini sprinkle of a training. Fast forward to today. She’s had to help with items bc the new hire, onboarded and left until further notice. I didn’t need the help bc I can run the ship alone. However the mgr jumped in “ to learn biz”. But masked this as helping me. I didn’t shun it, I just agreed under my terms bc I don’t want to appear not open minded etc.
Now she got adapted to doing a few things till the newbie comes back. If that happens. Now here we are. My mgr keeps asking me to train her on every single aspect of my job in its entierty . Especially the things that make me valuable. I understand , granted if I take off she can be a back up, but it’s a bit much. Every time we are having a decent conversation, she slips in hey we can do this but if I.. you need to teach me this. Like wtf is happening. It’s making me uncomfortable and I don’t want to be a gatekeeper but why does she keep asking. I said what’s the gain for me besides you taking away my leverage here. Are you going to teach me your job. The response was she knows everyone’s job on her team and she will show me anything I want to know. Yea ok …. And I am a team of 1 …so idk where or what that meant. Long story short I don’t like this. Thoughts ?
