First time worker curious about my rights. (New Mexico)

Hey all, I (22) just started working at McDonalds for a summer job before college, and I was curious if there were any state or country-wide rights that I could exercise/should know about. I’m paid hourly, and tend to work 10-15 hours a week. For example, I’ve read that changing shifts without long enough prior notice can induce a fine, but I’m not sure if that remains true for me, as though there is a “schedule”, it seems very flexible and I’m often sent home before scheduled to be done. Or if it just doesn’t apply due to being paid hourly. That’s all, just curious what you guys think is vital to know.
