Everyone is sick at work now, I’m the cause since I wasn’t allowed to call out.

About 2 weeks ago my roommates kid came home with a “little stomach flu”, which despite my best efforts I caught. I tried calling out, and 2 of my jobs let me, but the other 2 managers told me nope, doctors note, I had to find a replacement, and it will be a no-show. So I came into work. Spent half the day in the restroom, and now everyone has it including both managers that forced me to come in. One complained to me how everyone in her house has it and how it's my fault. We really need some sort of mandatory sick leave. I hate how I infected some of my coworkers, but how much illness could be prevented if we did. Edit, WOW, a half rant that I wrote a 1am kinda went way further than I thought it would. I will try to read the comments…

Edit, WOW, a half rant that I wrote a 1am kinda went way further than I thought it would. I will try to read the comments when I can, but to answer a few things.

I have 4 jobs.

  • CVS, 5-9 hours a week, 1 day a week, sometimes more if someone quits or calls out, I was scheduled for 15+ hours the week I was sick due to someone quitting.

  • Gas station, 10-14 hours, 1 day a week, sometimes more, scheduled for 2 days

  • BBQ food place, 2-3 days a week, always under 25 hours though, let me call off

  • Driveline, retail merchandising, no fixed schedule, whenever I have time for it, about 4 to 60 hours a week, averages about 20 hours. I moved my work around so I didn't have to work the first week at all, I had to work a few hours to cover my main store the second week I was sick.

I had 5 roommates

  • Mother + Father + Kid (infection source), unmarried, related to the owners of the house. Live in the master bedroom

  • 2 women roommates, share the second largest bedroom room, one was having an affair with the father and has moved out this month.

Rent is pretty cheap for the area and is currently $400 a month utilities included, and I live in the smallest bedroom. I have been looking to move out for at least 2 months now, but most places cost $250+ more a month and don't always include utilities.

I did try to prevent the spread. I wore a mask the first 2 days, but my mask pack disappeared from the break room. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer that I found and put by the register, but it was thrown away for being expired and not replaced, so I used the little bottle that I carried on my key clip. I tried to wear gloves, but I kept ripping them and I had to use the rest room a lot. After I went though the first box I didn't get anymore.

It is not Covid, I tested negative twice, I believe it is a Norovirus.

Thank you everyone for your support.
