This is a short rant. I work around 35-40hrs per week over the course of 4 days. The boss wants to give us maximum 4 days per week because of the long hours. On Sunday I saw that my colleagues the next day were understaffed so I offered myself to work, to my manager, if she said yes as I wanted to help my colleagues the following day.
At first she said no but then changed her mind and said yes. So okay I come to work the next day, stayed for half the day because the afternoon wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
In comes the next day and I get a call from the Boss. He says he never agreed to me working that extra half day. I told him our manager agreed to me working that day, even after I explained to her about that day's schedule. He told me to never use our workplace's schedule again or even bother to volunteer in helping others.
Tldr: I worked an extra day to help my understaffed colleagues. My manager said yes. My boss called me to say he didn't say yes and blamed me for interrupting the business schedule. He doesn't want me to help ever again.
